How to keep towels fresh for a long time
one Alcohol for spice stains
Towels stained with spices cannot be simply thrown into the washing machine. If, for example, turmeric gets on a fabric, then after washing (especially in hot water) it will turn completely yellow and dye other fabrics. To avoid this, follow the algorithm.
- First you need to vigorously shake the towel to get rid of some of the spices. Then gently wet the mark with cold water without rubbing it.
- After that, it must be carefully treated with alcohol. It is best to apply alcohol from a spray bottle. It will destroy the coloring pigments.
- Only after that, a liquid detergent is applied to the contamination and sent to the machine. Important condition:
water temperature should be 30°C or lower.
2 Salt or boiling water against green stains
If there are traces of dill juice, parsley and any other herbs on textiles, use a saline solution. Dissolve three tablespoons of salt in a glass of lukewarm water. Pour the solution over the marks, distributing undissolved crystals over them. Leave the laundry to lie down like this for a couple of hours and then send it to the washing machine. The normal fast setting at 30°C will do.
Another way is to pour boiling water over the spot and leave it for 15 minutes in a soapy solution. Wash after that. However, the second method is good for fresh dirt that has not yet had time to eat into the fabric.
3 Salt solution or peroxide to remove meat stains
If you start getting rid of traces of meat immediately, then hand washing for 5 minutes under cold water with dishwashing detergent is enough.
If the mark has had time to dry, it will be more difficult to get rid of it. Put the product in a basin and fill it with saline, leaving it overnight. For a liter of water, you need 20 g of salt. After that, you can wash the fabric.
Light towels should also be treated with hydrogen peroxide before this — it breaks down dirt and brightens spots.
four Vinegar, bleach, or laundry soap for vegetable stains
Traces left by coloring vegetables like tomatoes can be removed with 9% vinegar. You need to mix half a glass of vinegar with the same amount of water and pour over the problem area. Leave for two hours and send to the washing machine.
- Pumpkin is well rubbed with laundry soap in warm water.
- Bleach will help with eggplant juice if the fabric is light.
- Fresh beet stains are poured with boiling water and dipped in saline. You can also try soaking the stain in milk for a few hours and then putting it in the washing machine.
5 Salt or nail polish remover for oil stains
Fine salt or soda should be poured onto a fresh oil mark, it will pull some of the oil out of the fabric. If you have time, you can cover the salt with paper and heat it with an iron — this will speed up the absorption. After that, it is removed and the dirty place is sprinkled with starch or crushed chalk. After 20-30 minutes, the powder is shaken off and the laundry is sent to be washed.
A dried spot that has not been treated with salt can be cleaned with gel stain removers or colorless nail polish remover. And after that also wash.
6 Laundry soap or glycerin for chocolate stains
Traces of chocolate are well removed with laundry soap in warm water. Pharmaceutical glycerin will also help: you need to drop it on pollution, leave it for 30 minutes and send the thing to the washing machine. If the mark is still fresh, even hand washing with dishwashing detergent will help.
7 Mustard to restore lost whiteness
Mustard will help solve the problem of how to bleach kitchen towels. In 2 liters of heated water dissolve six tbsp. tablespoons of mustard powder. Wait 20 minutes until it completely dissolves. Soak gray and reddish towels — they must be completely covered with liquid. Leave in this form for 13-15 hours. After that, wring out and send to the laundry.
eight Citric acid or peroxide for old stains
If the marks on the fabric appeared more than 7-10 days ago, they are considered old. Then the usual means may not work. We need to look for more effective ways to wash kitchen towels from old stains. The universal option is citric acid. For light textiles, it can be replaced with hydrogen peroxide. In a glass of water, dilute 2-3 tbsp. tablespoons of acid or peroxide. The liquid is abundantly applied to the old mud and left for 2.5-3 hours. After that, the towels should be rinsed, soaked in soapy warm water for 30-60 minutes and washed in the usual way.
9 How to wash kitchen towels from old greasy stains: silicate glue
Old fat is very difficult to remove. But you can try to do it with silicate clerical glue. Take an old enamel pot. It is needed for boiling, so it will not be possible to cook in it later. Pour three liters of water into the dishes, boil it, add a tablespoon of washing powder and the same amount of silicate stationery glue. It is sold in all stores. The solution must be mixed well, put kitchen towels in it. They must be boiled for half an hour, then rinsed and washed.
ten Vegetable oil for difficult stains
You can wash kitchen towels with vegetable oil. This method is known as «Japanese washing» and does not require the use of a washing machine. Hot water is poured into the bucket, a glass of powder for automatic machines is poured. If there is only hand washing powder, the dose is reduced. Pour into the liquid two tbsp. tablespoons of vegetable oil and pour the same amount of bleach. Everything is well mixed. Put dirty linen, cover with a lid and leave for 12-14 hours. After that, the laundry should be rinsed: the first time — in hot water, the second — in warm water and the last time — in cool water.

Things are well lathered with laundry soap and soaked in liquid. Leave in this form overnight or for 10-12 hours. After rinsing and drying.

Textiles are moistened and lathered abundantly with laundry soap. Too greasy towels are better to lather with dish gel: it will better break down the fat. Prepared things are put in a plastic bag, but do not tie it. Put in the microwave. Set the average power: 400-500 W and start the oven for 1.5-2 minutes. Allow the textile to cool directly in the bag, then rinse it out. No need to machine wash.
